Young woman volunteers with purpose and passion

YOUR STORY: There came a time in my life recently when I found myself desperately seeking a way to change the world, so much so that I couldn't sleep at night.

My name is Georgina Marshall and, through my passionate desire to help people, I applied to be a youth ambassador with the GVN Foundation

After they accepted me, there was a two-day workshop to learn how to be a leader within the world and how to fundraise for a mission trip next year.

Whilst I was there, I became aware that I was where I belonged.

Learning about how to see the world differently and knowing that, although I'm just one person, I can do something huge, filled my heart.

It was a very emotional few days because the other 20 youths that attended the workshop and I connected.

We were faced with the question of why.

Why did we want to help? Why did we have such a burning desire to change the world?

I was confronted with a question that I believe changed my life and now I know that because of the sacrifices the people in my life have made, such as my parents sending me to a good school and my sister sacrificing her social life to pick me up from things, and lots of other people constantly trying to help me.

Every time someone makes a sacrifice for me they give me a new piece of passion in my heart.

This mission trip is giving me the chance to do the same.

It's making me sacrifice my pride of asking for money and my fear of failure and I believe that to help out some vulnerable children in Vietnam next year, everything I will and have sacrificed is so worth it.

Please help me to fundraise to help change the world, piece by piece.
