Trio of 10-year veterans among group that greets patrons
ABOUT 30 volunteers at The Events Centre, Caloundra, celebrated a successful and busy 2016, with five of them clocking up 10 years of service.
The centre's volunteer program started in 2007 and is led passionately by volunteer co-ordinator Lesley Muir.
More than 50 volunteers work as ushers at the centre or meet and greet patrons for events and performances.
The five volunteers celebrating 10 years of service were each awarded a certificate from The Events Centre general manager Gary Mears.
The five long-serving volunteers are Lynne Rix, Loraine Porter, Marie Mulcahy, Marlena Lambert and Lesley Muir.
The Events Centre chairman Tim Dwyer said the centre was deeply committed to collaborating with the community and relied heavily on a large number of volunteers to ensure a high level of service was provided in many aspects of the operations.
"We sincerely thank our volunteers as friends of the theatre for their invaluable help and without whom we would not be able to continue our work as effectively," Cr Dwyer said.
"The depth of their commitment demonstrates the value that members of the community have in ensuring that the centre stays connected and relevant to the residents of the Sunshine Coast and its many visitors."
