Spring ball at Casino Civic Hall a big success

WHAT a fantastic night at the 2015 Gala Spring Ball.

The ball was held on September 19, once again at the Casino Civic Hall, which lent itself beautifully to the 1950s theme.

A range of people attended, from disability organisations to the general public.

Special guests on the night were local MP Kevin Hogan, Casino mayor Ernie Bennett and Richmond Valley Council general manager John Walker.

The disability organisations who were involved in the planning of the event each nominated a Star Employee from their organisation for the Community Sector Star Award.

Nominations judged by John Walker.

The night was a sell-out with 200 people coming along to not only have a great time, but to recognise the great work being done by the disability sector at a local level.

The Funky Monkeys provided entertainment and ensured everyone danced up a storm to the 1950s music.

The Casino RSM Club once again catered for the event, providing us all with amazing food for the evening.

Local businesses got behind the event by sponsoring or donating prizes for raffles, and $4000 was raised on the night.

Feedback from everyone who attended was that it was a night to remember.

We can't wait for next year!

The winners of the Employee Star Awards are as follows: On Focus - Eliseo Urrea; Casino Neighbourhood Centre - Wayne Armfield; Windara - Tony Darragh.

The overall winner of the Community Sector Star Award was Robyn Townsend from Jumbunna, who has just recently retired after many years.

A big congratulations to all the winners on the night!
