READERS DISCUSS: Is skull memorial photo in bad taste?

IS this photo appropriate or not?

A holiday photograph of his 10-year-old son in front of a window of skeletons in Cambodia sparked an online outrage that body language expert Allan Pease never could have predicted.

Mr Pease, who has a large online following, copped criticism from the public when he posted an image of his kids at the infamous Cambodian Killing Fields.

He said he had always taken his six children travelling with him on his lectures to audiences around the world.

Do you find Allan Pease's Cambodian Killing Fields photo offensive?

He believes in educating his children through real life experience, which is why he had no qualms taking his son Brandon and his nine-year-old grandson, Mitchell Stewart, with him to Cambodia.

While Mr Pease was criticised on his Facebook page, Daily readers were widely supportive.

More than 200 people commented on the story, with most saying there was no issue with the photo.

In fact many said they supported  a parent who gave their children lifechanging cultural experiences- "warts and all".

Here's a snapshot of your debate:

Alix Frost: Those kids are lucky enough to have seen an amazing yet macabre piece of history, good on the father and shame on the small minded people who gave him crap for it.

Lynda Day: In this day and age there are too many people that are quick to judge and criticise others. These children are very lucky to be going to these places and learning the history that is no longer taught in our schools. No doubt most of the negative comments came from people who have no idea of the history of that area. Good for you Allan Pease.

Janice Ward: Just leave him alone. What's the big deal? I was there too. It's just a photo of his family in Cambodia.

Sharon Tomlinson: I find it bit disrespectful of those passed I dont think those kids look to pleased either.

Debbie Little Good on him for giving his kids such an amazing childhood , filled with travel and seeing the history of the world - warts and all.

Shane McCrae: You can't deny the truth of life to your children.

Ryland Mahoney: Nothing wrong with it. He will probably grow up to intelligent and well rounded with knowledge of what happens around the world. Something a lot of Aussie rednecks need to do.

Todd Morrow: Congratulations to their father for teaching them about the real world instead of wrapping them in cotton wool! How is this any different than taking them to a museum which also shows skulls and skeletons!! How is it different to the Sandakan museum which shows the Australians that were murdered at the hands of the Japanese! It remains the greatest single atrocity committed against Australians in war. It's all history and this parent gets a big thumbs up from me for showing his children the real world and teaching them through life experience!! Well done sir!

Krista Potter: It's a holiday pic of something that exists. Should we not take photos of things that might offend others? No! Stop worrying about what your neighbours are doing in their bedrooms, eating, or dressing in, doing on their holidays and worry about yourself! Mr Pease is a customer where I work and his kids (the ones I've met so far at least) are well adjusted, happy and intelligent human beings. They're lucky to have such an awesome parent who lets them experience real life and not just video games and TV.
