READERS DISCUSS: Euthanised dog numbers in Rocky pound

FOLLOWING the criticism of Rockhampton Regional Council's lack of an in-house adoption process by the RSPCA, and Capricorn Animal Aid's recent service suspension, The Morning Bulletin asked our online readers if council should provide more support to not-for-profit groups running adoption programs:

Cassie Charles: Its disgraceful. Its time ppl stop breeding their animals. And make it cheaper for desexing so this problem stops. Make it mandatory to desex enough is enough..

Paula O'Ryan: Instead of playing the blame game, is there a petition to sign to stop them?

ShaniceAndjesse Lawn: We recently wanted a dog and we wanted to save one but sadly the pound doesn't 'do that'. So we got a puppy instead. Would've loved to have saved one that needed a home...

Courtney Baldwin: I'm looking after a dog that was supposed to go to the pound soon but after reading all this there's no way I'm letting her go! Now just gotta come up with $350 to get her desexed! Anyone know of anywhere cheaper?

Shadé Cole: Just another reason to get ur animals fixed!

Kris Maddison: It's wrong and cruel they've done absolutely nothing wrong, I think we need to do this to the human race to because we are way over populated and we over breed far and beyond

RSPCA Queensland CEO Mark Townend has unleashed on the Rockhampton Regional Council for jumping too fast to euthanise...
