NQ mum wins $3 million with giant Gold Lotto windfall

A CAIRNS mother was on her way to get groceries at Smithfield Shopping Centre when she found out she had just become a millionaire.

The Smithfield resident, who wishes to remain anoynymous, abandoned her grocery shopping mission after she discovered she'd won $3 million in her division one Saturday Gold Lotto entry.

She said was shocked and couldn't believe it.

"I thought surely this can't be real," she said.

"I've still got to go grocery shopping - that's what I was doing when I popped in to check my ticket.

"So I went home in shock and that was the end of that. I still have to go and get the groceries - we don't have anything left in the fridge."

The winner said used the same marked entry for 15 years and recently considered swapping to a QuickPick entry.
