Little mermaid fans pick mernames ahead of Melissa's visit

THERE are only two days until Melissa the Mermaid is expecting to flash her fin at Rockhampton mermaid and merman fans.

Yesterday, The Bulletin asked readers via Facebook to turn to a child nearby and ask them what name they would call themselves if they were a mermaid or merman. Here are those responses:

  • Lana Johnson - Luke 7yrs said "Frank"
  • Jayme Fenton - Georgia 7yrs said "Coral"
  • Kellie Swanepoel - Grace 2yrs said "Grace"

Mermaid Melissa is expected to be very well looked after while in the Rockhampton Region and enjoy the cool waters of the pool at the Empire Apartment Hotel.

Here are Melissa's performance times and times when she will be available to pose for photos with fans:

Friday                                    Performance 4pm-10pm
                                                Photos 6pm-7pm

Saturday                              Performance 2pm-10pm
                                                Photos 4pm-5pm

Sunday                                 Performance 8am-2pm
                                                Photos 10am-11am.
