Grafton High School Reunion a wonderful weekend

Last weekend many students who attended Grafton High School commencing 1961 and completing the Leaving Certificate in 1965 gathered to reminisce over school days and over the past 50 years.

It was a wonderful weekend beginning with morning tea and a walk through the High School with the present Headmaster, Mr Peter South.

The evening was a Dinner at the Grafton District Services Club which was thoroughly enjoyed under the superb leadership of Mr Geoff Shepherd as MC.

We were all saddened to learn that 29 of our fellow students had passed since our days at High School.

Sunday was a BBQ at Corcoran Park on the banks of our mighty Clarence River.

Monday for those who were still in town was a bus trip down river through Ulmarra and Maclean for a cruise from Yamba to Iluka and Goodwood Island and back to Yamba for lunch at the Pacific Hotel with school mate Jack McIntosh and after lunch a walk along the Main Beach for some enthusiasts.

All in all a great weekend of fun and friendship and I wish to sincerely thank the Sydney group led by Tony Priest and the Grafton group led by Sandra Graham (nee Worrell) for the many hours spent in organising the Reunion.

Looking forward with anticipation to another Reunion in maybe five years time.
