READER DISCUSSION: Drivers detail damage from hit and runs

A ROCKHAMPTON couple have been left shaken and with thousands of dollars in repair bills after two separate hit and run accidents in just over a month.

We asked our Facebook users: Do you think Rockhampton has a problem with too many hit and run accidents? Have you been involved in one? What was your experience?

Maureen Caunt: I had damage to my car in Stocklands car park but luckily for me workers heard the noise and detained the person until security arrived and got the details of the driver and handed them on to me so I could give the info to my insurance company, my car is being fixed at the moment.

Chris Johnson: You were lucky Maureen. I've had my car damaged at Stocklands carpark as well. No note, no witnesses apparently. There needs to be more security in the parking sections and CCTV cameras being watched constantly on parked cars and throughout the centre.

Brittany Lee: I wasnt in my car it was parked but some idiot in a 4wd reversed into my back passenger and driver door and dinted/scratched it got out and had a look at her handy work, jumped back in her car and drove off.

Ann-Marie Woodford: I was parked outside my workplace and a customer reversed into it with a ute (didn't tell us) just left so I found it later.

Debbie Bryant: Not surprised. I have had damage to my car in the carpark at Shopping Fair. I now park over at the cinema well away from everyone else.

Lou Neilson: People do not report an awful lot to police. It happens more frequently than police records show.
