Camp Diabetes headed to Mapleton

It's that time of year again where Camp Diabetes and 80 children aged 9 to 12 years with Type 1 Diabetes head to Mapleton for the first week of the School Holidays.

They're supported by 30 Volunteers including a Doctor, Diabetes Educators, Dietician, Social Workers, Teachers and other young people with Type 1 Diabetes all aiming at giving these kids a break from the responsibility of Type 1 Diabetes and to have heaps of fun meeting other kids who are just like them.

Did you know that staff will do...
3 840 finger prick tests
720 insulin injections
1 800 pump boluses
Treat more than 500 low blood sugars
Count carbohydrate 2 880 times
Do at least 500 2am finger pick tests
AND that's in addition to all the regular kid stuff. :-)
