Bullying prevention in Logan
National Day of Action against bullying and violence is on Friday 18th March 2016. It's an initiative of the Safe and Supportive School Communities Working Group made up of all Australian education authorities. It is managed by the Queensland Government on behalf of Australia's government, Catholic and independent school communities.
This annual day is Australia's key anti-bullying event for schools, and encourages all students to 'take a stand together' against bullying and violence in schools, the classroom and beyond.
Karen Tyrrell, is a Logan based industry award winning author of empowering children's books, an experienced ex teacher, a public speaker and resilience presenter.
Karen's books show children how to live strong, be resilient, and cope with life stress.
Karen's children adventure novel, STOP the Bully is popular for age group 7-12. It addresses bully prevention skills, self-esteem, confidence and social skill development. It is endorsed by Kids Helpline and aligned with Kids Matter school curriculum.
She talks to Logan Primary and High Schools as an advocate for anti-bullying. Karen is proudly presenting a Bully Prevention talk to 400 Marsden High school children on 2nd March 2016, based on her lived experience as a survivor of bullying and about her book STOP the Bully.
Her talks are entertaining and informative and resonate with children. The next day she is speaking to Marsden High parents informing them about bully prevention, cyber bullying and coping skills.
