Bloyce backs Noosa's right to choose

MAYORAL candidate Michael Bloyce says Noosa's planning scheme should not be messed with and the Noosa people should determine their own destiny on the question of de-amalgamation.

"I have no desire to wind back the provisions of the new planning scheme in relation to Noosa," Mr Bloyce (pictured) said.

"The character and intent for Noosa as outlined under previous planning regimes will be preserved in a Bloyce-led council."

The Draft Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme will come before the new council shortly after the local government elections on Saturday, April 28.

"It would be nonsensical to meddle with the Draft Planning Scheme ahead of the de-amalgamation issue being resolved," Mr Bloyce said.

"Nor would I anticipate any significant changes in the event that Noosa decided to stay on as part of the regional council."

On the question of de-amalgamation, Mr Bloyce said he would let the process outlined by the LNP State Government take its course.

This process includes the appointment of a boundary commissioner, submissions for boundaries and confirmation of cost.

Mr Bloyce said he would not advocate for or against de-amalgamation but would let the people of Noosa determine their own destiny.

He believed that only Noosa people should vote in the plebiscite and that they should pay any and all costs associated with their de-amalgamation, if it were supported.
